Project Description

Varming Consulting Engineers were commissioned to design the mechanical and electrical services installations for this multi-development apartment complex containing 6 new blocks of apartments totalling 365 new units consisted of a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 bed apartments. The client’s vision for the Charlestown Centre was to achieve a sustainable development with energy efficient systems utilising up to date engineering services in supporting this approach.

Features

Central Air source Heat pump unit suitable to meet NZEB requirements, increase site wide efficiency and facilitate decarbonisation of future phases.

New VSD drive Heating Circulating Pumps.

High insulating heating distribution mains at Basement Level to Apartment Pump Stations which served the 5th floor levels of the development.

Individual Heat Interface Units (HIU) within each Apartment with dual exchanger for Apartment instant Hot Water and radiator Heating.

Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation (MHRV) within each Apartment.

Electrical panel heaters in the Landlord common/circulation spaces to satisfy BER and Part L requirements.

All main Landlord / common areas of the building are naturally ventilated.

Provision of energy efficient light fittings and controls throughout.
