BIM Capability Assessment and Why It’s So Important that Mechanical and Electrical Consulting Engineers are Certified?

26 September 2018

At Varming Consulting Engineers, we have a long and proud history in the field of building design that dates back to the mid-1940s. Along the way, our building services design consultants have consistently pioneered in the field of sustainable design, achieving a number of industry firsts.

We are proud to announce another one, as we were recently named as the first Irish specialist consultancy for building services to be awarded BRE Global BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification for each of our 3 offices in Ireland.

So, Why is Being Certified So Important?

Whilst there are many benefits to employing BIM collaboration software in building and building services design projects, it requires the practitioners i.e. the mechanical and electrical engineers, to know how to use the technology to its full potential.

When M & E consulting engineers Business Systems are BRE BIM Level 2 certified, it means that they have demonstrated  the capability to employ cutting edge 3D modelling tools, to comply with the relevant industry standards and that the business has displayed the necessary infrastructure to support staff.

Correct BIM Implementation

Without independent certification, there can be no guarantee that the consulting engineers involved in any given project that uses the BIM collaboration platform are going to employ the technology in compliance with recognized industry standards, effectively negating the positive benefits for its use in the first place.
