Varming Consulting Engineers were commissioned to undertake the design and construction monitoring for the refurbishment of Block J, which is a two storey protected structure within the Garda HQ campus in the Phoenix Park and is part of the original development of the barracks from circa 1842.
Our appointment covered the design and periodic monitoring of the installation and witnessing of commissioning of the mechanical and electrical services. The refurbishment involved upgrading the interiors of Block J to accommodate a highly specialist unit within An Garda Síochána and to provide a modern flexible workspace that will allow An Garda Siochana to operate efficiently and in line with current practices as well as provide a degree of adaptability into the future.
