Project Description

Varming Consulting Engineers were commissioned to design the mechanical and electrical services installations of the New Cardiac Catheter Laboratories and Cardiothoracic Ward in University Hospital Galway.

The project has been broken into 3 phases as follows:-
Phase 1: Relocation of the Existing Coronary Care Unit.
Phase 2: Reconfiguration of Block 2A to accommodate the proposed new Cath Labs.
Phase 3: Reconfiguration of Block 2A to accommodate the proposed new Cardiothoracic Ward – Works on site are currently on hold.

Cath Lab design also facilitates the future expansion of the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories to provide a third Hybrid Cath Lab in the future.

Features

Mechanical features BeMS system, drainage, medical gases to HTM-02, pneumatic tube system, ventilation & air conditioning to HTM-03, heating, water services, firefighting equipment and fire/smoke damper system.

Electrical features include high efficiency lighting & emergency lighting, secure and resilient power including UPS systems, Medical pendants, General Services & Power, Mechanical wiring, Fire alarm, security & intercom system, patient systems such as nurse call & cardiac call system, TV & radio system, induction loop, lightning protection & earthing & bonding.
