Towards Net Zero Awards

Varming Consulting Engineers Ltd. are proud to have provided Mechanical and Electrical professional services for Donegal Garda Station refurbishment and extension project and congratulate Rhatigan Architects for winning the Public Building award the recent Towards Net Zero Awards.

This multi-award-winning project has previously won the 2022 ACEI Design Excellence Award in the Mechanical and Electrical Category and was a double award winner at the 2021 RIAI Awards, picking up top honours in the Cultural/Public Buildings Category and the Sustainability Category. The project is also nominated for Building refurbishment of the year in the 2022 Building and Architect of the Year Awards.

This project involved extensive refurbishment and alteration to the existing facility to achieve NZEB compliance and provided a modern fit out. The works included demolition of existing two storey extension, refurbishment of the existing station, construction of a three-storey over semi-basement contemporary extension to the rear including a new custody suite, with rooftop plant room, new boundary enclosures, secure storage, and all associated site works.
