What is a Run Around Coil Installation and Why Use One?
When choosing which ventilation heat recovery system to employ in any given building, the Varming team of mechanical and electrical engineers have to consider many factors. In buildings that cannot tolerate cross-leakage between extract and supply air, such as in the pharma industry, hospitals and food manufacturing, the Run Around Coil (RAC) system is the preferred solution.
It is also a configuration ideally suited to building design scenarios where the layout of the building means that the extract and supply air handling units are physically separate from each other. The system consists of heat exchangers in the supply and return air streams connected together by a hydraulic circuit, with the fluid used for heat transfer being a mixture of water and glycol.
Increasing Energy Costs
At Varming Consulting Engineers, we understand the need for building owners to achieve optimal energy performance, especially with energy prices on a seemingly constant upward trajectory. RAC technology complying with the Energy Related Products Directive (ERP), offers meaningful and immediate energy savings that, over time, add up to a significant amount of money.
Whilst there are other heat recovery systems employed by m & e consulting engineers, the RAC system is the only one that’s effective in the scenarios mentioned above. Not only that, but it is able to recover up to 80% of the heat that would otherwise be lost and represents a real investment for the future longevity of buildings in which it is provided.
